Lexus is updating its first all-electric crossover, the RZ, with a larger battery, improved electronics, and a new top-tier F-Sport trim for the 2026 model year.

The Lexus RZ debuted in 2023 as an all-wheel-drive electric SUV, later adding a front-wheel-drive version with increased range. Now, for 2026, the RZ is getting even more significant updates: an upgraded battery pack, more efficient powertrain systems, and the all-new flagship F-Sport model. The new RZ will launch in Europe first, but we expect it to arrive in the U.S. by the end of 2025.

Lexus RZ 550e F Sport: More Power and a Sporty Look

The new range-topping F-Sport model features Lexus’ Direct4 dual-motor AWD system, delivering 408 horsepower. For the first time, the RZ offers a gear shift simulation function, allowing drivers to “shift” through eight artificial gears using paddles behind the steering wheel—mimicking the feel of a conventional gas-powered vehicle. Speaking of steering wheels, the RZ F-Sport comes equipped with Lexus’ unique electronic steering system, which replaces a traditional wheel with a futuristic yoke-like control.

The RZ 550e F-Sport also gets lightweight 20-inch alloy wheels and an exclusive two-tone exterior paint option. A new metallic gray finish joins the lineup, giving the luxury EV an even sportier look.

Enhancements Across the Entire Lexus RZ Lineup

The improvements aren’t limited to the F-Sport model — every Lexus RZ now benefits from a new 77 kWh battery pack with upgraded chemistry for better efficiency and range. Lexus has also refined its e-axle system and introduced a water-cooled battery and motor temperature management system to enhance performance and durability.

Lexus claims the updated RZ gains up to 60+ additional miles of range (depending on the configuration), a significant boost from the U.S.-spec RZ’s current max of 266 miles (with some versions as low as 196 miles).

Powertrain & Charging Improvements

The 2026 Lexus RZ lineup now includes three configurations:

  • RZ 350e (FWD) – 224 hp
  • RZ 500e (AWD) – 380 hp
  • RZ 550e F Sport (AWD) – 408 hp

Additionally, the updated AWD models can tow twice as much as before, with a new maximum capacity of 3,300+ pounds. Lexus has also integrated a 22 kW onboard charger, allowing for faster charging times. The new battery temperature management system is expected to further improve charging speed, particularly in extreme climates like cold weather.

Inside, Lexus has enhanced cabin insulation by adding more soundproofing under the rear seats and in the cargo area, reducing vibrations and road noise for an even quieter ride.

While the 2026 Lexus RZ will launch in Europe first, its U.S. arrival may be slightly delayed, potentially influenced by shifting U.S. import tariffs, as the vehicle is currently manufactured in Japan.
